You can mail your printed pages to us, or we can put you in contact with a trusted local printer who can print your pages from an electronic file on appropriate paper for binding. Thesis, Dissertation, and Micro-Edition Binding

Pages are sewn together and hard covers are covered with a cloth-based cover material. We have over 35 colors and textures available. Please contact us to discuss what color you want the cover to be. Lettering is added with hot foil stamping in a variety of colors. Please contact us to specify stamping color.

Leather Bindings

Leather binding prices vary depending on the type of leather used and how many "extras" are involved (raised cords/bands on the spine, marbled endpapers, etc.). Also, please be aware that our sources for leather are changing and some leathers we have used in the past are no longer manufactured. Not every color is available in leather, so please contact us ahead of time to let us know what you are expecting in terms of type of leather and color of leather. All leather bindings are for hardcover books.

Full leather binding ~ minimum $125

1/4 Binding (leather spine, cloth or paper front and back covers) ~ minimum $150

3/4 Binding (leather spine and corners, cloth or paper front and back covers) ~ $175

Foil stamping on cover and/or spine ~ 50 cents per word or decoration

Decorative "Extras"

Marbled paper endpapers (available with cloth or leather bindings) ~ add a minimum of $20 to the price of binding.

Some marbled papers can add as much as $60 to the cost of the binding - they vary a great deal in price.

Raised cords/bands on the the spine (available on leather covers only) ~ add $30 to the price of the binding.

Title skiver (a skiver is a small piece of very thin leather that appears on the spine, usually with title and author information - this is a very traditional look that you often see on law books) ~ add $30 to the price of binding.

Binding Periodicals (Magazines and Professional Journals)

This area of biding is dying out as more and more information is available online, but we still do binding of periodicals.

NOTE: We DO NOT bind old (or new) newspapers

Prices for periodical binding is the same as prices for thesis and micro-edition binding with one exception:

If the height of the page is over 11" it will add to the cost of the binding. The maximum page height we can bind is 15". The cost will increase per book on a sliding scale for books with a page height between over 11" and 15".

All boxes are built and covered entirely by hand. There is no discount for quantity orders with boxes.

Shipping and Handling

We charge $5 to pack your box for shipment (we pack our boxes expertly) PLUS the actual shipping cost.

We ship using UPS, FedEx, and the US Postal Service.

When using the US Postal Service, we ONLY ship by Priority Mail. We will not ship your books using "bound, printed material" rate (what used to be called "media rate"). It is notoriously unreliable.

We strongly suggest that if you ship pages or books to us via the U.S. mail, use Priority Mail and not a cheaper service.
